The Foundations of Leadership and Management Development Course

Aim
This is a course which will challenge participants out of their comfort zones, into insight and development. It will provide an overview of the key competences required to effectively manage people, task and processes. The focus of the programme is on developing awareness, understanding and competence.

Objectives
By the end of the course participants will be able to:
  • Apply theories of management and leadership to their own role
  • Understand the key principles of emotional intelligence and be able to apply these to themselves and to others
  • Identify the key attitudes, skills and core disciplines of effective management
  • Identify their preferred personal style of communication, information processing, decision making and planning and understand the impact these styles have on others
  • Clarify the various roles within a team and know how to work effectively with each role
  • Consider the most appropriate technique to apply when providing feedback to staff - either on an on-going basis or during a planned feedback discussions
  • Create an action plan for future personal and professional development
